Last day on 14 March 2020, the spokesman for the UNO Peacekeeping Mission in Mali confirmed the THST a Canadian and an Italian have been released in Burkina Faso who were kidnapped in December 2018. Both Italian and Canadian are healthy and in good condition as they handed over to the United Nation’s peacekeeping mission.
United Nations mission spokesperson Olivier Salgado told to medi that the peacekeepers had received them and after a while both have been handed over to the Malanian Authorities. As per the question from media regarding their health, the spokesperson added clearly that both are healthy and very well. They will be transported to Bamako, after there they will be able to travel to their countries.
There are not updates regarding who these people were found. As some people are curious that these are released by forces operation or by ransom. In Burkina Faso there are militant groups with links to al-Qaeda and ISIS have been active and mostly these groups attack on Western People. Both Canadian Edith Place and Italian Lucca Tacito disappeared while traveling in Burkina Faso. Officials haven’t make any comment regarding release, kidnapping or which group was responsible for this.
