Performance of Lahore Qalandars in current editions:

Lahore Qalandar played their first match with Multan sultans, the match was won by sultans by 5 wickets. This was an easy victory for sultans as qalandars made mere 138 runs. the second match was with Islamabad where United won the toss and decided to bowl, even though qalandars played well and thee hopes went high for their fans but United’s played well too so it was again a loss for qalandars even after making good 182.the third match of the season was with Peshawar Zalmi. Lahore won the toss and decided to bowl, Zalmi made 132 runs in this 12 over the match but again it was a loss. So three matches lost if Qalandars still wanted to stay in-game they had to do something extraordinary. Quetta Gladiators won the toss and decided to bowl, this time Ben Dunk came to action and made 93 runs from 43 balls, Salman Irshad, on the other hand, took 4 wickets of gladiators and hence Qalandars won the first match of the series. Gladiators lost their second game to Qalandars pathetically by getting out at just 98 runs. On the other hand, Qalandars lost their second match with United’s again. The second match with Zalmi was sensational to its core and was not sure till the second last ball when Qalandars needed 4runs on the last two ball and it ended with a great six by Lynn. With Karachi, Lahore won the first match and lost the second match. The second match with sultans was in favour of Qalandars. Hence Qalandars has improved a lot in the current series of PSL.

The series got suspended by PCB due to the pandemic of covid19.

Suggestions for Lahore Qalandars:

The Qalandars had been in a very weak spot since the PSL’s launch, with the last position, the fifth-place until the addition of Multan Sultans in 2017 they shifted to new sixth-place again atlast of all teams. Fakhar Zaman and Chris Lynn are already struggling for form and the side’s batting weaknesses was exposed once again. Their average innings score with the bat had been the lowest in the PSL in the last two seasons – 140 in 2018 and 142 in 2019, compared to the league average first-innings score of 152 in that time and resources look unspectacular for the openers like Salman Butt and Mohammad Hafeez. The team should look at better openers and put someone else instead of Fakhar as he is not performing well and replace him by a batsman who can sustain for a longer period of time.

Conclusion:

Lahore Qalandar played a total of 10 matches in PSL 2020 and won 5/10, not bad as compared to their previous performances. Lahore qalandar rests on 3rd position right now before former two winner teams Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi. Now reached semi-finals and had a match with Karachi kings that got delayed. So here we saw Lahore Qalandars came forward as the most thrilling and unpredictable team of PSL and hoping that Qalandars will improve themselves more and will keep bringing new talent to the ground.
